Be The Voice - She Seeks - Week of August 24

{be the voice}
get inspired to make a difference

Meet Andrea, age 20. She sits in her room painting her nails with a soft coral polish, daydreaming of her own version of the American Dream. Flipping through an old magazine, Andrea imagines herself in that beautiful business suit the model so gracefully wears in hopes of one day making a difference in the world.

Andrea is no different than you or me.

Except, she is. Her hopes and dreams stop at the bedroom door in which she is locked up in as the victim of sex trafficking. She sits on her bed, waiting in terror-filled anxiety, until her father (who facilitates the encounters with sex-craved men) comes to drag her to her next "job."

How similar my hopes and dreams are to Andrea's, yet how differently we live each day. I am blessed with my comfy home...Andrea is locked up in desperation. I wake in the morning with hope and to my "safe" life...Andrea lives in constant fear. I know in my heart that God loves me and watches over me...Andrea might not yet know this important, life-giving Truth.

Though we are different, we all need hope, just like Andrea. Let us cry out to the Lord and find rest in the assurance that He does, in fact, hear our pleas.

"For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." {1 Peter 3:12 ESV}

Let us also be the voice for women just like Andrea who fall victim to the horrific crime of sex trafficking every single day, by getting involved instead of turning away. *Mercy Ministries, an amazing ministry, has a way for each of us to step up and BE THE VOICE.

*Mercy Ministries is a Christian residential program that exists to transform the lives of young women who face life-controlling issues such as eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, depression and unplanned pregnancy. Mercy also serves young women who have been physically and sexually abused including victims of sex trafficking. The program is voluntary and free of charge to the residents. (Normal treatment facilities cost $1,000 to $2,000 a day). Just recently, Mercy has renewed their mission to partner with young adults to raise awareness and money about the extremely important cause of ending sex trafficking.

Sarah Martin truly hopes and prays that her She Seeks girlfriends will text MERCY to 85944 and donate $10 towards Mercy Ministries' efforts to end sex trafficking. You can read more from Sarah at
