A Generous Boss

Dan Price, founder of Gravity Payments, took a $1 million pay cut, so that he could increase his employees wages to a minimum of $70,000 a year. Price runs the risk of creating an entitlement mentality, but he also may dramatically increase his pool of talent and profits.

Price has received criticism from others due to his bold move. In Matthew 20, Jesus told a similar story of a man who paid each worker the same wage regardless of their time working in his field.

When this man received complaints he said, “Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?”

You may disagree with Mr. Price, but as a business owner he has the freedom to be generous.
