No worries
Linda Buxa

Natural disasters. Rising grocery prices. Child molesters. Layoffs. Illness. Wars. Death. Everywhere you look you can find something to worry about. Even though you know there is a God in heaven who loves you, your heart wonders if he’s real.

Then you read Matthew 6:25,27: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”

If you thought I’d say, “See, look how easy it is. Just trust,” you’d be wrong. Sometimes quoting a Bible passage might make you feel worse. You wonder why your faith is so weak that you can’t put it all in God’s hands. You completely relate to the father in the Bible who told Jesus, “I really do believe. Help me get over the part of me that still struggles to fully believe.”

When your Father looks at you, he knew your first worry was being separated from him. So he sent Jesus who came to earth to not only pay for your sin but also to give you the credit for his perfect and free-from-worry life. Then, he knew this world would make you question if the plans he has for you really are meant to bring you closer to him, so he gave you the Spirit. He’ll remind you of God’s promises. He’ll reassure you that it’s not your job to worry less. It’s his job to help you trust more.
