God’s power

“Talk is cheap.” You’ve heard that before. What are words? Ink on paper; air waves moving from lips, tongue, and throat. Human talk is indeed often cheap and insubstantial. But when God speaks, there is power.

When God spoke at the beginning of time, matter erupted out of nothing. When God spoke, light shattered the darkness. When God spoke, the globe’s entire water system rearranged itself, vegetation exploded into existence, stars and solar systems leaped into the sky, and air and sea and land welcomed millions of animals. When God spoke, lifeless dirt became Adam and a rib became Eve.

When God the Son said from his cross, “It is finished,” sin, death, the grave, and Satan himself were finished. “‘Is not my word like fire,’ declares the Lord, ‘and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?’” (Jeremiah 23:29).

When God speaks to a human heart, his hammer breaks down walls of sin and his fire reignites saving faith in the one Savior. When you speak God’s words, therefore, his power comes out of your mouth. Really.

Start experiencing more of the Holy Spirit’s power!

Scripture is clear that the Holy Spirit is coequal with God the Father and God the Son. But all too often, Christians fail to give him an equal place in their lives.

We want to help you make the Holy Spirit a daily part of your life—so you can experience more of his awesome, life-giving power—by sending you Pastor Mike Novotny’s book, The Neglected Spirit: Understanding and Adoring the Holy Spirit.

The Neglected Spirit is our thank-you for your faithful support to share the timeless truths of God’s Word with more people. So request yours when you give. Thank you!
