Remember Billy Graham (1918-2018) in His Most Inspiring Quotes

Grace Moments Devotions - January 15

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Is it your dream too?
Pastor Mark Jeske

Racism is a terrible social issue, and it has been part of our country’s story from the beginning. Giving preferential treatment to some and denying opportunity to others is cruel and immoral. It stifles social mobility, wastes people’s true talents, and makes some people second-class citizens. It is fueled by ignorance, imagined self-superiority, and greed.

Racism has plagued all human history, ever since there were people who were different from one another. “My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don’t show favoritism” (James 2:1). Treating some people better or worse than others depending on their race or economic status cripples evangelism, and it makes a mockery of God’s intent in creating his people so delightfully different. The book of Revelation tells us that people from every nation, tribe, race, and language will gather before the throne of God.

It is good to pause on a regular basis to remember the life and words of a man whom God used to advance the urgently important idea that all people, regardless of place of origin, race, or economic class, have worth and dignity. It was God’s Word that provided the moral force behind Dr. King’s words. Dr. King’s dream was really God’s dream first, a world where people treat one another with appreciation and respect.

            Is it your dream too?
