Grace Moments Devotions - December 18, 2017

Wise builders

Home builders who do not spend serious time studying the construction site and taking proper steps in the excavation and foundation phases are asking for trouble (and lawsuits) later. Special steps need to be taken if you’re in a flood plain or in tornado or hurricane or earthquake country. Even more important—what kind of spiritual foundation is underneath your life? How can you prepare yourself so that the storms that will come won’t ruin your life and destroy your eternity?

Jesus himself has something to tell you: “The one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete” (Luke 6:49).

Will you let God’s Word tell you the difference between right and wrong? Do you take seriously God’s warnings about your violent adversary, the devil? Do you fear the horrible consequences of rebelling against God? Do you believe his message of grace and forgiveness through Jesus? Do you believe that God intervenes to bless and prosper those who trust in him? What do you want most in life? How will you measure if your life is successful?
Whose approval do you want most?
