Creation is in the rest of the Bible too
Pastor Mark Jeske
The Genesis accounts of God’s creation describe his amazing power, wisdom, and love for his human creatures. But the creation accounts also show that all people, made by God for his purposes, are accountable to God for the way in which they live their lives.
To get out from under that obligation, skeptics for centuries have sniffed at the historicity of Genesis chapters 1-11. But God’s creation is taught not only in those chapters but in the rest of Scripture too. In the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, a group of Levites, Israel’s teachers, led the nation in this prayer to the Lord: “Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise. You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you” (Nehemiah 9:5,6).
You can’t have it both ways. Either the Bible and its creation account are true, or they are a gigantic fraud. The world arose and developed in its stunning complexity either by a string of incredible coincidences and random mutations, or it was crafted by intelligent design.
You can’t embrace much of the Bible and just slice off a few chapters at the beginning. If you reject the authority of Genesis, you have rejected the authority of all of Scripture.
A family of generous donors has offered a $100,000 Challenge Grant to help show more people that the life they long for is available right now in Jesus. That means your donation today will go twice as far. And as a thank-you for your gift, we will send you Pastor Mike Novotny’s new book, How to Heal.
