The Journey with Ron Moore

Chosen | Psalm 87

Today's Passage: Psalm 87
Key Verses: Psalm 87:1-2

He has founded his city on the holy mountain. The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.

God chose Israel to represent him on earth. Through the nation he showed who he was and how he interacts with those he loves; and through the nation God sent his Son. However, this choosing was not due to Israel's land size or population. God's choosing is always based on his unconditional love (Deuteronomy 7:7-9).

It is still this way with us today. God did not choose you to be his son or daughter because of anything you did or would do. He did not look down through the tunnel of time to evaluate your future performance. We belong to God based solely on his unconditional love.

Think about that amazing fact. In a world of performance, God says, "Grace!" In a world of rewards, God says, "Mercy!" In a world of quotas, God says, "Unconditional." In our temporary existence, God says, "Forever!" In a world that gives only what is earned, God says, "Free!"

Father, thank you for choosing me to be your child. I am sinful, but you forgive me. I am broken, but you heal me. I am lost, but you have found me. I am unworthy, but you have made me worthy through Jesus. In his name I pray. Amen.
