Clean and Clear | Psalm 19:9
Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever.
We are most disturbed in disobedience. When our will has its back turned on God, chaos reigns. When we’ve decided that our way is best, anxiety is amplified. On any road trip away from God, our personal fear rides shotgun.
The fear of the Lord is different. Re-read today’s passage. The fear of the Lord is clean. Like a mountain spring the fear of the Lord is a flow of fresh honor and respect confirmed by refreshing obedience. The unpolluted life continues as we choose to walk with God.
Let me ask a question. Could it be that you are living in fear because you’re not following God? Could it be that peace won’t come because practical obedience isn’t the pattern of your life? Could it be that disobedience is producing the dread in your heart? Maybe it’s time to come home. On the road back, God will drive. You’ll ride shotgun, and personal fear will be packed in the trunk.
Search me, O God, and show me my heart; test me and bring my anxious thoughts to the surface. Reveal my offensive ways and lead me in a path of purity that lasts forever. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
