Gasping for Breath Between the Tears | Psalms 29:10-11
Psalms 29:10-11 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
The only certain thing is this: Life is uncertain. Circumstances will flood our hearts, causing us to gasp for breath between the tears. Grief, always uninvited, follows its initial numbing with throbbing heart pain. The anxiety of MRIs and biopsies, the exhaustion of treatments, the slow climb to recovery all weigh us down on the journey.
God is not absent during the flood. He sovereignly manages every detail. Our perspective comes in time; he sees through the lenses of eternity. He is enthroned as King forever!
However, his power is not confined to a far off throne. He comes to us . . . to carry our burdens; to heal the brokenhearted; to bandage our wounds; to give us strength; to provide his incomparable peace. Fall on him. He will give you everything you need for the next stretch of the journey.
Father, I am weighed down. I can’t go on. Please take the load. Father, my heart is broken. The pain is unbearable. Please soothe the throbbing. Father, my mind is anxious. It’s impossible to focus. Please give me peace. Father, my soul is discouraged. I feel like giving in. Please give me strength. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
