Today’s Special is: God Will Provide Exactly What We Need

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell

Main Ingredient:

And the angel of the Lord came back the second time, and touched him, and said, “Arise andeat, because the journey istoo great for you.”

1 Kings 19:7 NKJV

Entrée

Over the weekend, we were in the mountains on a trail.  It was steep with gravel and wide with occasional steps; strenuous, but enjoyable.  Then that path stopped, and we continued up the mountain stepping over roots, which were hard for me, because I am almost totally blind.  My husband had to tell me where to step.  Then it became very rocky, which made it even more difficult for me.  Thank God that we made it to the top and back down without falling.

The difficulty of this trail was not what we had intended.  Isn’t that just like life?  It may be a little hard, but you are enjoying it, like the first part of the trail.

Then you hit some bumps, like the roots.  Then the tough stuff comes.  You get that phone call in the middle of the night.  You lose your job.  The doctor tells you that you have cancer.  You are not where you planned to be.

God will provide exactly what you need for your journey, just like He provided for Elijah in 1 Kings 19.  God never promised that it would be easy, but He did promise never to leave you (81 verses).  He promised to supply your needs (Philippians 4:19), and He promised that He would never put more on you than you can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13).

The last similarity between our hike and life was that when it was over, we were thrilled to be finished.  God had brought us through it.  No matter where your journey leads, never doubt that God will bring you through it.  It may be hard, but no journey is too great for God.

Take Out:

What journey does God have you on today?  Is it enjoyable or is it the most difficult journey of your life?

Friend, never forget that God is right there with you.  He is faithful and He loves you.  The difficult journeys tend to make us call on God in prayer.

Take a few minutes for that special time of fellowship with your heavenly Father and let His Strong Arms carry you through this day.

Dessert:

Dear Heavenly Father,

You know the journey that I am on today.  Sometimes I forget that You have promised to never leave me and that You will give me strength and grace.  Sometimes, I get scared.  Lord, forgive me for those times.  You are righteous and merciful, and I thank You for I know that You will bring me through this journey.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
