Priceless Wisdom: Proverbs 14

Proverbs 14:1

So, we’re almost halfway through the Book of Proverbs now. Tell me, how have these times with God helped you? For me personally, I feel like it’s caused me to look at my motives for doing things. It’s easy to get in a habit of just living life without putting much thought into what causes you to be the kind of person that you are. I’m now convinced more than ever that following Jesus is not a cakewalk. If anything, it is actually harder to be a Christian because you can’t just be who you want to be. Change becomes unavoidable.

This November will make 10 years since I gave my life to Christ. When I look back on all of the things that have changed, the biggest one can be found in how I treat others. Before, I made decisions rooted in selfish desires because all I had to be concerned about was myself. I was the naive man in verse 15, who believed everything. But now I feel like I’m the sensible man who considers his steps. The wisdom I’ve found in the Bible has actually taught me the right way to coexist with others.

There is purpose to my life. I now understand what Jesus meant when he compared the Kingdom of God to Matthew 13:44 and Matthew 13:45.I mean, I wouldn’t trade what I’ve found for anything. I don’t think I could even force myself if I wanted to at this point because I know who I haven’t lost site of the selfish person I was before.
