One thing can be stated with complete certainty: In the resurrection, there will be no deformities. You will be the perfect you, and I will be the perfect me. This point was amplified in an interview with Joni Eareckson Tada on the Bible Answer Man broadcast. Speaking from the perspective of a wheelchair, she exuded, "Some day in the not-too-distant future, I'm gonna pole-vault the pearly gates." Joni's hope echoes what the church has always believed.

As Justin Martyr, a great apologist of the early second century, wrote, "All things which the Savior did, He did in the first place in order that what was spoken concerning Him in the prophets might be fulfilled, 'that

the blind should receive sight, and the deaf hear' (Isaiah 35:5), and so on; but also to induce the belief that in the resurrection the flesh shall arise entire. For if on earth He healed the sicknesses of the flesh, and made the body whole, much more will He do this in the resurrection, so that the flesh shall rise perfect and entire." Indeed, in heaven "there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Rev. 21:4).
