Window of Grace
Dr. Randy White
“All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.” (Acts 10:45; NASB95)
Under the Old Covenant with Moses, one had to become Jewish to experience God’s presence. God dwelt in the Jewish temple, and the only means of approaching the temple beyond the Court of the Gentiles was to convert to Judaism.
Upon the crucifixion of Jesus Christ the veil in the Temple which covered the Holy of Holies (the dwelling place of God) was torn in two from top to bottom. From top because God tore it, not man, and torn because God was saying that Jesus was now our High Priest and now any of us could come to Him through His Son.
So when Jesus died something amazing happened: grace opened for the entire world. Salvation came “to the Jew first” (Romans 1:16) but now “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
With the opening of this window of Grace we live in an age of “whosoever will.” We are told to make disciples of “all nations” (literally of all ethnicities).
If you are a believer, today is a great day to pray for an unbeliever. Pray that God’s Spirit would awaken their heart to His grace, and that you and others would have opportunity to explain His grace.
If you are not a believer, today is the day to pray, “Lord, my sin and selfishness has kept me from you. Today I turn from these and turn to Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I trust in Jesus for forgiveness of sins, for meaning and purpose in life, and for eternal security in Heaven. In Jesus Name! Amen.”
In His Grace,
