
Josh huddled close to the tree trunk. It had been hours since he had gotten separated from the rest of his troupe. Darkness had come, and then the wind kicked up and a storm approached. In the distance Josh could hear animals fighting. He prayed that they wouldn't pick up his scent and come looking for him. As he hugged his pack closer to his chest, he felt a familiar friend, the Bible his father had given to him. He carried it with him wherever he went. Right now it didn't matter that it was too dark to read it. Josh knew it was there, and that made him feel a bit more secure. The Word of God can be a powerful source of comfort for us. In time of danger and dread, the Lord will come close to us, to comfort and protect us. Rest in the Lord, and He will save you.
Lord, be with me this day. Help me to see Your presence everywhere I go. I need to feel You near me. Am en.
