Seasonal Business

One of the more challenging aspects of running a nonprofit is the seasonality of the cash flow. The last quarter of the year’s donations, due to large one time gifts that frequently are given around year end, can be as much as 40% of the annual budget.

Many businesses have a seasonal nature to them, some much more than others. This requires more discipline and planning. You don’t want to spend the harvest now if you know the lean times are coming.

Proverbs 30:24-25 teaches, “Four things are small on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise; The ants are not a strong people, but they prepare their food in the summer.”

If your business has seasonality to it, make sure you plan accordingly, setting aside reserves for the future.

Integration is the key to changing that mindset and thus “redeeming” the vast majority of our time, the hours devoted to work. When our work is a holy calling and a ministry, it’s loaded with spiritual significance. All that time we spend at work has spiritual value. So while balance alone might redeem some hours, integration can redeem far more! Purchase here.
