Psalm 141:3-4

Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, to practice deeds of wickedness with men who do iniquity; and do not let me eat of their delicacies.

Ask God to help you root gossip out of your life!

You know that gossip is destructive, to the person you are gossiping about, to yourself, to the person you are speaking to, and to your relationship with God. So get ruthless with it! Ask others who are close to you to let you know if they catch you gossiping. When they do let you know, thank them for it.

Walk away from situations and conversations where gossip is happening. Don’t put yourself in a situation where, before you know it, you are in the middle of an inappropriate discussion about someone else.

And ask God to help you get this awful habit out of your life. Ask Him to “keep watch over the door of my lips” and to “set a guard over my mouth”. Ask Him to convict you when you gossip, to help you notice it in your life. When you find yourself speaking destructively about others, confess it to God and ask His forgiveness. If that person is aware of how you have been speaking about them, then you need to go to them and ask them for forgiveness too.
