Hebrews 11:17-19

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was offering up his only begotten son; it was he to whom it was said[in the Old Testament],‘IN ISAAC YOUR DESCENDANTS SHALL BE CALLED.’ He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead, from which he also received him back as a type [a picture of what would happen later with Jesus].

In this amazing story, when God called Abraham to offer his own son as a sacrifice, God never wanted Abraham to take his son’s life. What God wanted was to see how far Abraham would go in obedience. How much did Abraham trust God? When Abraham prepared to sacrifice Isaac, God stopped him. Now both God and Abraham knew that he trusted God completely.

What was it that finally convinced Abraham to go that far in obeying God? “He considered that God is able to raise people even from the dead.” We see so clearly that God is able to do this when we look at the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

Death is not the end of your existence. God is in control even when death is involved. For us as Christians, death is a doorway to a much more beautiful future with God. God wants you to replace your fear of death with faith in Him!
