Isaiah 19

Thus the LORD will make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the LORD in that day. They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to the LORD and perform it. The LORD will strike Egypt, striking but healing; so they will return to the LORD, and He will respond to them and will heal them.

Sometimes God has to hit us over the head to get our attention!

Even when the Lord allows pain into the life of one of His children, He has a good purpose. We are often too eager to say that suffering in our lives is an attack of the enemy. Sometimes the difficult times that come to us have been sent by God.

When times are good, it is so easy to become spiritually complacent, to slacken off in our prayer life, to overlook our need for a daily time with God, to think that we can handle things pretty well on our own. We can suddenly realise that it has been days since we last prayed!

When that happens, God will allow difficulty into our lives to remind us of how important our relationship with Him is—how much we need Him. God values our relationship with Him more than He values our comfort.

Is God allowing tough times in your life right now? Look for His good purpose, and “return to the Lord”.
