1 Peter 1:18-21

…knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

Your true value is seen in what God was willing to pay for your freedom!

Regardless of whether or not you value yourself, acknowledge this: God values you. Look in the middle of the passage above. “[Jesus] was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you…” He came into this world “for the sake of you.” In this passage, Peter writes off silver and gold as “perishable things” and says these were not what God paid for your rescue. Rather He paid “with precious blood…the blood of Christ”.

There is no way you can read this passage and miss God’s message to your heart today: “I value you so highly!”

If today you don’t feel love from anybody else—even if you despise yourself—I encourage you to say, out loud, right now, “God loves me!”
