Psalm 119:9-16

“How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word. I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”(vv. 9,11)

It is impossible for you to live a godly life without soaking your mind in God’s Word!

When you put your faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, God forgave you. But what God did in your life at that moment went much further than forgiveness—God also changed your basic nature. He gave you a new “heart”, a new nature. There is something in you now that longs to live a pure life. You want to please God!

But how can we live that pure life when our sin nature continues to tempt us so strongly? Our struggle is even harder because of the sinful world that surrounds us and presses in on us every time we turn on the TV or the radio. Even going to work, school or sport presents struggles if the people we’re with are worldly.

In today’s passage God is reminding you that there is only one way you will be able to live for him in the midst of all these factors. That one way is to treasure God’s Word. You must develop a love for God’s Word and build your life around it. There is no other way to resist the world’s pressure.
