A Prayer for the "Hard Pressed" | Psalm 118:1-7

Today's Passage: Psalm 118:1-7
Key Verses: Psalm 118:5-7

When hard pressed, I cried to the LORD; he brought me into a spacious place. The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The LORD is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.

God's presence is the game changer. Left to ourselves we are defenseless. There is no protection in sight; but the Lord is with us. He drives away fear. He is on our side giving us just what we need just when we need it.

Use the blanks to personalize the following prayer for someone in your life who is "hard pressed."

Heavenly Father,

Please be with _______. Help _______ to know that you are with him/her. Allow _________to feel the warmth of your presence. Give ________ the assurance that you are on his/her side. Let ______ know that whatever is standing in their way is no match for you.

Take away dread and fear. Help _______ to cast all his/her anxiety on you. Give ____________ the strength to heave it on you like a farmer throws a heavy sack of grain into the bed of his pickup truck. Remind him/her that you are the Defeater of every enemy, even the last enemy. Calm the beat of ________ heart. Quiet ________ soul in your presence.

In Jesus' name.
Amen.
