From Death to Life | John 5:24

John 5:24 Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.

There are many reasons you may have for not being a Christian. You may not feel like you need Jesus. You may not believe the Bible to be true. You may have had a bad experience with a church or with Christians. However, there is one thing that we can all agree on - we are going to die.

The obituary section of your local newspaper is filled with people whose lives on Earth have come to an end. Some were great achievers while others lived a fairly common life. Some were old, others were young. Some died suddenly, others suffered from a long illness. One day your name and mine will be in the obituary section of the newspaper, but . . . what then?

You don't have to live in fear of death. The Bible is clear that you can cross over from death to eternal life. God sent his Son to make that crossing possible. Our sins separate us from God, so Jesus came to die for our sins. When we trust in his work on the cross we will not be judged because he bore our sins in his body on the cross. He was judged for us. Have you trusted in Jesus to carry you from death to life? Would you like to? Then use this prayer as a guide to tell Jesus your heart’s desire.

Dear Jesus, I am scared to die. I am scared of the unknown, but mainly I am scared because I don't know where I will spend eternity. I want to change that. You bore my sins in your body and died for them. You were judged for my sin so that I wouldn't have to be. Today I trust in you and your work for me on the cross. I trust you to carry me from death to eternal life. My trust is in you alone. Amen.
