There's An App For That: How Do I Get Rid of Fear and Worry? | Matthew 6:34

Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

How Do I Get Rid of Fear and Worry? Focus on Today!

The only day I can deal with is…today. I have things on my calendar for tomorrow and the next day and the day after that. I am scheduled into the future. But I can only function in the present. Today is the only day I can experience.

The only day I can deal with is…today. I assume I’ll be around tomorrow, but only God knows for sure. If I worry about tomorrow, and tomorrow doesn’t come, my worry is wasted. If I fret about what may happen tomorrow, and it doesn’t happen, my fretting is futile. Worry about tomorrow steals time, energy, and focus from the only thing I have for sure…today.

The only day I can deal with is…today. Worry is the signal to pray. Worry is the reminder to turn things over to God. Inherent in worry is something beyond my control that I can’t fix. Worry tells me that I must trust God…today. And when tomorrow becomes today…I will begin to trust him all over again.

Father, thank you for the gift of today. May we not waste it by worrying about tomorrow. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
