There's An App For That: How Do I Find Direction? | Romans 12:2

Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

How Do I Find Direction? Renew Your Mind.

Finding God’s direction is not passively waiting around to see writing in the sky. In today’s passage, Paul gives us one thing to do, and one thing not to do, in order to “test and approve what God’s will is….” Let’s start with the “what not to do.”

What Not To Do:Do not conform…to the pattern of the world.” The things of the world are in opposition to God. Our lives must not “conform” to those things that are in conflict with God.

What To Do: Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Our mind is renewed by the spiritual input of God’s Word, prayer, and Christian fellowship. This renewal transforms us from the inside out.

When we stop the process of conforming and start the process of transforming, we will begin to look more like Christ, less like our culture. Then we will be in a spiritual position to “test and approve what God’s will” for us is. Conforming to the world keeps us confused; renewing our mind allows us to see, think, and feel clearly.

Lord, keep us in your Word, in prayer, and in Christian fellowship. Help us to not conform, but be transformed. In Jesus name. Amen.
