Nothing Compares | Colossians 2:13-15
Colossians 2:13-15 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Beaten and bruised. Hair matted with blood. Fighting for each breath. Open wounds scraping the wooden beam. Excruciating (out of the cross) pain. But it got worse.
Our sins were placed on Jesus, nailed to the cross. From hate to murder; from white lie to fraud; from pornography to rape; from you name it to you name it; all on Jesus. The Father could not look on his sin-bearing Son. He could only send his wrath. Death is sin’s penalty. Forsaken. Alone. The Perfect One died. For you and me. Then it got good!
By the cross, tragedy turned to triumph. By the cross, the dead were made alive. By the cross, sinful hearts were washed spotless. By the cross, all sins were forgiven. By the cross, our sentence was served. By the cross, death was conquered. By the cross, we go free.
Think of it! Jesus died; I live. Jesus paid the penalty; I’m forgiven. Jesus rose to new life; so will I. Jesus did all the work; I get all the benefits. Nothing compares!
