Jesus Cracks Up, Too!
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy. Job 8:21
Freedom is joy! I ordered a beautiful drawing of Jesus from the Elijah List, a great online resource for inspiration. The picture caught my attention because it shows Jesus laughing. The artist depicts Him cracking up, and I love it! You know He must laugh, as He’s the source of true joy! As Americans, we are born into joyous freedom. We don’t know any other type of government. We cherish freedom of speech, assembly, and religion. We prize a free press and the right to bear arms. Our individual and collective freedoms are rare and sacred in this world, envied by many. As believers, we’re born again into spiritual liberty, doubly blessed by our American and Christian heritages. In both the founding of our country and the genesis of Christianity, great sacrifice was made for us to enjoy our liberty. Our Founding Fathers warned we must responsibly keep our Constitution. The Bible stirs us to keep God’s laws. In these difficult days, both sets of laws are a refuge, for us individually and for our nation. If we use our liberty as a license to just do as we please, we ultimately destroy its essence. More than ever, we need to be stirred to the perfect law of liberty so our nation can flourish and we can live in the fullness of God’s promises.
Sweet Freedom in Action
Today, determine to walk thankfully and carefully in all the liberty you possess. When I glance at my Jesus laughing picture, I’ll remember to pray for all of you to receive divine joy and laughter, through freedom!
