For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
--Isaiah 9:6
In the Old Testament, the name “Mighty God” literally means “Hero God.” In a world where heroes are in such short supply, it’s great to have a God who is truly a hero!
It’s important to remember that our God mightily conquered sin, death, and hell. He overcame every obstacle in life and death so that you and I can have just that—life. And eternal life at that!
Don’t be fooled by the many opinions that exist today about who Jesus is. If you were to ask people on the street who they think Jesus is, you’d get a variety of incorrect answers.
But the Bible says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). He is the Mighty God… with all power… and He is available to you right now!
Through Him you can overcome anything in life. Whatever pain, crisis or challenge comes along, know that your Mighty God—your hero—will enable you to overcome it.
