And God spoke all these words, saying, “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.”
.
--Exodus 20:1-3

In today’s passage, we see from the first of the Ten Commandments what our number one priority should be as followers of Christ: not to place anything else above God.

In addition to this, there are four others things we need to know when it comes to our view of God and our relationship with Him.

• First is the reality of God. God exists. So many people today, perhaps even you, live life as though God doesn’t exist. He does! And you can know Him personally. What a powerful truth!

• Second, is the priority of God. As we see in the first commandment, God wants you and me to put first things first—Him.

• Then, there is the liberty of God. Our God has delivered us just as He did the Israelites. Sin enslaved you and me, but our God has set us free from a life without hope, a life without purpose, a life without peace, a life of loneliness, and ultimately He has set us free from death.

• Finally, the personality of God. He is a person you can know intimately through Jesus Christ.

If you want to know God personally, you must come to Him submissively, sincerely, and scripturally. This first commandment is an affirmation and declaration of who God is. It is the most important because it declares He exists… and He wants you to put Him first in your life.

There is a God, and you can know Him personally through His Son, Jesus Christ!

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW GOD PERSONALLY, YOU MUST COME TO HIM SUBMISSIVELY, SINCERELY, AND SCRIPTURALLY.
