What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

--Romans 8:31-32

There is a serious pessimism among people today who ask, “Are we really better off than we were? Are things getting any better?”

I know things aren’t perfect in our world, but we need to remember that America has flourished over the years due to God’s favor and blessing.

Today’s verse tells us, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” And this verse can help us understand the stability we have in God and why this nation was founded upon Christian principles. We exist today in our current state not because of our military strength, our technological ingenuity, or our financial power. We exist because of God’s favor.

This nation was founded upon the principles found in both the Old and New Testaments. Our nation’s founding fathers shared the same ethics and values, which they integrated into the original documents that formed our nation and gave us the right to exercise our religion freely.

But we’re in danger of losing our soul as a nation. America today is not what it is by chance or destiny. God orchestrated the hearts, minds, and lives of the people who founded this great country. I don’t know how long we’ll have the freedoms we enjoy so much today, but if we as Christians don’t stand for Christ, I believe these freedoms will be ripped from our hands!

The day Americans decide they no longer need God or His principles is the day America will begin to wither away and die. I pray that our deterioration as a country hasn’t already begun.

We should be thankful for the freedom paid for by all those who have sacrificed so greatly for our nation. But let me remind you true freedom only comes through the blood of the Lamb.

Today’s verse says, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” The blood of Jesus bought true freedom!

That is the truest meaning of Paul’s great exclamation, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”!

ARE YOU ENJOYING THE FREEDOM THAT CHRIST’S BLOOD BOUGHT YOU?
