Inspirational Walk

Today's reading: Luke 24:13-35

Jesus meets up with two of His followers walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus after His resurrection. The men, who are sad and perplexed, are talking, trying to make sense of Jesus' crucifixion. But when Jesus comes on the scene and engages them in conversation, the whole situation changes. The men explain to Jesus what they are discussing and then Jesus takes over, teaching them with His words and explaining the Old Testament Scriptures (that these men would have been very familiar with). The words of the men when they realize that it was the resurrected Jesus who had been with them, convey quite a bit. "They said to each other, 'Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?'"(vs. 32).

What does this passage reveal about engaging (receiving, reflecting on and responding to) God's Word? What impact or influence does taking in the Word have on your day-to-day life? Tami
