Revelation 13:11-18 Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon...
Yesterday we were introduced to the Antichrist and now today, the false prophet or the second beast. Revelation describes him as having two horns like a lamb and speaking like a dragon (vs. 11). The false prophet is basically the right hand man, a powerful representative and henchman, for the Antichrist. As such, the false prophet will demand that everyone on earth worship the Antichrist, and those who refuse will be put to death. Drawing on the power of the Antichrist, the false prophet will perform great signs and deceive many people (vs. 13-14). Finally, it is the false prophet who will implement what we refer to as the mark of the beast (vs. 16-17).
One word kept coming to mind as I read yesterday and today--EVIL. The Antichrist and the false prophet are evil personified, and like their master (Satan) they are masters at deception. And the people on earth fall for it all.
So how can we use these verses to help us recognize and then combat the evil around us--sinful attitudes, sinful actions, sinful things--that are common place in the world? What do these verses tell us about our need to be proactive and on the offensive when it comes to being deceived by sin? Tami W.
