Talking It Out

Today's reading: 1 Kings 19:9-18

After 40 days of traveling, Elijah arrives at Mount Horeb. His emotional condition is a low one. He’s discouraged, depressed and despondent, and has intentionally withdrawn and isolated himself from others. But even though Elijah may have felt like he was alone, God never left his side. I was drawn to the gentle, yet firm, way God spoke with, and listened to, Elijah as he poured out his concerns and sorrows to God.

When something happens that gets you discouraged about serving God, how do you respond? Do you talk with God about your struggles, concerns and disappointments? What’s one example of how God encouraged you through a difficult time of serving Him? Tami
