Thankful Wakeup Call

Today's reading: Colossians 3:12-17

As we wrap up our week considering what living as a Christ-follower looks like, I was drawn to Colossians 3:1-17. Paul starts by encouraging us to focus on God and spiritual matters (vs. 1-4), moves on to instruct us to put to death our old way of thinking and acting (vs. 5-16), and then turns to a number of positive instructions in verses 12-17.

As I read this final section, three words hit me HARD--"And be thankful" (vs. 15). You see, I've been struggling the past week or so with some things in my life that aren't coming together the way I envisioned (in other words, according to my plan). And as a result, my attitude this week has been what I'd describe as grudgingly thankful. L So as I opened my Bible this morning searching for just the right passage to blog on, God brought me to Colossians 3 because it was exactly the wakeup call I needed. (Thank you, God!)

How did this passage impact you today? Where did God direct your attention as you read through these verses? Tami
