Keep the Charge!

today's reading.
1 Kings 2:1-10    When David's time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon his son, saying...

think about it.
What is David's first charge to Solomon (2:1-3)? Why is this so important to him? What are the benefits of following through on this charge (2:3-4)? David urges Solomon to deal justice with some who gave David trouble; what does he say qualifies Solomon to act (2:6, 9)? What legacy of faith are you building to pass along to others?

the blog.
From his deathbed, David reminds Solomon of the importance of always following the Lord. He commands Solomon to "Keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies…" (vs. 2). Good advice for Solomon and also for us today.

So how can we put 1 Kings 2:2 into practice? What will you do to "keep the charge of the LORD your God" this weekend? Tami W.
