Zealous For Good
Today's reading: 1 Peter 3:13-22
My sister has a phrase she says often, "If you do what you know is right, God will bless." That's immediately what came to my mind as I read today because Peter is essentially conveying that same message in verses 13-17. I particularly liked the reinforcing call for us to be zealous (passionate, fervent, eager) for what is good—regardless of the fact that our choosing to do what is right and good may result in some form of persecution, harassment or discrimination. Verse 17 sums up Peter's instruction well.
"For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil."
What does living "being zealous for what is good" mean for you personally? Verse 15 tells us to be ready to tell others about the reason for our hope. Are you prepared and talking with others about your relationship with Christ and your love of what is good? How might you explain this? Tami
