Standard Operating Procedure

Today's reading: 2 Samuel 5:17-25

"And David inquired of the Lord" (vs. 19) is something we've seen over and over looking at the life of David. And with David now being king of Israel, nothing changes. Seeking God's direction and then following it is his standard operating procedure regardless of his circumstances. This was a reminder that I needed today. You see, as I turned to this passage this morning, my heart was heavy over some family matters and circumstances that don't seem to make sense. But David's example of constantly turning to God for direction ministered to me greatly, and led to a much needed candid and emotional time of prayer.

How often, and in what circumstances, do you "inquire of the Lord"? Would you say that seeking God's guidance and then following His direction is your standard operating procedure? Tami
