Broken Relations

Today's reading: 2 Samuel 14:1-24

David's family situation continues down a bad path as we start into 2 Samuel 14. Absalom has fled Jerusalem, and although David loves and misses him, he refuses to make any efforts to reconcile and restore their father-son relationship. The picture is heartbreaking. Joab eventually intervenes which results in Absalom being allowed to return to Jerusalem, but even with this interceding, the relationship between David and Absalom is not restored. There is no interaction, fellowship or association between the two men.

What did you see or learn from this passage about family matters and the importance of restoring relationships, both within and outside of families? Tami
