Today's reading: Titus 2:1-15

I couldn't help but notice that Paul repeatedly gave the command to be "self-controlled" throughout Titus 2--first for older men, next for older and younger women, and lastly, for younger men. Then as he concludes his instruction, Paul once again, points out that being self-controlled needs to be part of who we are as followers of Christ.

"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age..." (vs. 11-12).

There were many other specific instructions given in this passage, but when you think about it, being self-controlled is foundational to us behaving in the manner Paul describes throughout this chapter.

Who do you know who illustrates being self-controlled as they live for Christ? What are some of the benefits of being self-controlled, and why is it so important? Tami
