God Above All

Today's reading: Psalm 135:1-21

As with many of the Psalms, we see a call to praise God in Psalm 135. And with this particular Psalm, we are also given a good bit of context for our praise--God making the heavens and the earth, His control of nature, God's watching over and delivering the Israelites out of Egypt and into the promised land. But what caught my attention were the words of verse 5, that the Lord is great and above all other gods, paired with verses 15-18 where we see a description and the outcome of following lifeless, manmade idols rather than the all-powerful, living God.

What encouragement did you draw from Psalm 135? How does the comparison between God and other gods influence and motivate you to praise today? Tami
