God Made Me That Way

My son, Jeremy, due to his autism, has simple speech that comes with rote answers. For instance, when he does something intelligent we may ask, “Jeremy, how did you get so smart?!”

His favorite response is, “God made me that way.”

Jeremy is a great reminder that there are times when I perform well and seize the credit, forgetting, “God made me that way.”

In Isaiah 10, God wanted the King of Assyria to know that he was just a tool in God’s hand, and that his arrogance was going to result in consequences. In verse 15 we read, “Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it, or the saw boast against the one who uses it?”

If you’re experiencing success, don’t forget that, “God made you that way.”
