God's Original Intent

Jill Hamilton, a young communications professional, wrote an article for gazette.com about her personal journey in workplace ethics. Jill discussed a profound question she uses as a grid in making ethical decisions.

Her question is, “As a Christian, what was God’s original intent for my craft?”

This question can help to not only determine what God intended for you, but also it’s a great springboard in discussing ethical issues with others. Not everyone wants to discuss God’s design, but most people know the way things “ought” to be.

Proverbs 16:4 teaches, “The LORD has made everything for its own purpose.”

God is very intentional. He had an original intent or purpose for each one of us and our vocation. Give some thought today to what God’s original intent was for your industry.
