A Compassionate Leader

A great leader not only has concern for those they employ, they also have compassion. One business owner I know agonized, prayed, and cried as he wrestled with how to reduce his payroll.
Due to his compassion for others, I believe God provided a solution different than he expected. Rather than terminating several jobs, his entire staff agreed to significant pay cuts so that none of their peers would lose their position.
Nehemiah was also a leader of great compassion. When he heard of Jerusalem in ruins, Nehemiah 1:4 says, “When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.”
If you’re a leader facing tough decisions, show compassion. God may surprise you with a better solution.
