A Hesitant Lender

Towards the end of my banking career I had difficulty making as many loans as I had previously. As I studied scripture, and the pitfalls of debt, the harder it became for me to add the burden of debt to others.
Adding to this knowledge was the pain I personally experienced paying back a small business loan when interest rates were 21%. Although I was responsible, a “no” from my banker could have saved me a lot of pain.
In Matthew 7:12 Jesus taught, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.”
Although each circumstance is unique, whether you’re a lender or a borrower, consider the Golden Rule and what’s best for others, and act accordingly.
