Boasting About the Future
By: Rick Boxx
June 23, 2015

During Ben Carson’s speech announcing his run for President, Dr. Carson said, “Let me tell you what we’re going to do.” Then he paused and added, “If God ordains that we end up in the White House, let me tell you what we’re going to do.”

Many people selling their ideas, whether it’s in business or a run for President, have a tendency to boast about the future. This is presumptuous and dangerous.

In James 4, James warns, “Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil.”

If you tend to boast about the future, consider pausing like Dr. Carson and remembering the only One who knows the future, God.
