Quick on Your Feet
June 20, 2011

As a young businessman, my friend was entertaining an out of town client. After dinner, the client asked, “When do we get the girls?”

My friend realized he had to determine how to maintain his own integrity while keeping the client happy. Thinking quickly on his feet he said, “I don’t know, but you claim you love to sing. My wife plays the piano so well I bet you can’t pick a song that stumps her.” The client happily sang for hours.

Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 10:16, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.”

To maintain your integrity in business, sometimes you have to be shrewd, innocent, and quick on your feet.
