Dangerous Recruiting Practices

In June, 2012, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission website, the EEOC filed suit against Voss Lighting for religious discrimination. A manager of Voss Lighting had posted a job listing on a church internet bulletin board.
Edward Wolfe, an applicant who didn’t go to the church, but learned from friends of the job posting, was interviewed and supposedly asked to identify every church he had attended in the past, and where and when he became a Christian. He asked the EEOC to intervene.
Romans 13:2 teaches, “The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted.”
Although this case is still pending, our laws do not allow religious discrimination. Be careful in how you screen job applicants.
