Self-Controlled
By Rick Boxx
February 9, 2011

The self-control of over 1,000 children was assessed and followed for 32 years. The results, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, are fascinating.

They discovered that kids with lower self control at age 3 were more likely to later be dependent on drugs or alcohol, to have lower incomes, to be single parents and to have been convicted of a crime. Yet, 7% of the children "improved markedly." There is hope!

Titus 2:11-12 teaches, "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age."

God's grace, and our diligence, can lead us, and our children, into being part of that group with self-control.
