Preparing to Die
By Rick Boxx

As the press focuses on Steve Job's unexpected medical leave, it ties well to a newly released study by the American Management Association. Their research discovered, according to The Wall Street Journal, that 22% of senior managers admit their company isn't prepared for the sudden loss of key leaders.

Possible death or retirement is a taboo subject in many corporate suites. If you work for a CEO it can be uncomfortable to broach the subject of their departure. If you are the CEO you may prefer to deny the need for such a discussion.

Psalm 89:48 reminds us, "What man can live and not see death, or save himself from the power of the grave?"

Death is inevitable. To ignore the consequences it brings to your organization, and family, is foolish.
