The Church and Business
By: Rick Boxx

When I began a consulting practice years ago I came to realize, through prayer and scripture, that God desires accountability and interdependence for us and His church.

Seeking wisdom, I attended an elder meeting at my former church asking for their counsel and blessing over my new venture. One elder said, “This is your business and has nothing to do with the church.” Unfortunately, he didn’t understand the wisdom God provides the local church.

Ephesians 3:10 teaches, “God’s intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.”

The church has a lot to offer the business community, including the wisdom of God. Don’t overlook the importance of being tethered to your local church.
